Owlie Speaks!: Bau - Siniawan Road Trip

Outta the blue, my family and I decided to have a short road trip to Bau, a district off Kuching. Bau is located roughly 35km away from the heart of Kuching. There's two alternative route getting there. Either by Matang-Batu Kawa bypass or from 7th Mile route.

Our first stop: Fairy Cave! On the way to Bau town, you'll see a road sign leading you to this location. It's so big, you won't miss it!

They've built a new set of staircase to make climbing easier. I'm sure you won't want to climb up if you need to use the old one. Read further down and you'll see why.

Upon arriving to the end of the staircase, you'll have to climb another series of wooden stairway. The wind inside the cave is so breezy and cool; comparable to air-conditioner! Too bad my guts overwhelmed me. I didn't climb up the steep stairs to have a look at the hidden gem it holds. I was wearing a flip-flop, ok! *cough*

If you're not into climbing the stairways like me, you can enjoy the beautiful sight of this limestone cave on its side.

Drip, drop! Oh, it's raining? Nah, just water dripping from the side of the cave. Kinda like a small 24-hours fountain actually.

Next stop, Tasik Biru! It's once a gold mining area where the depth is unmeasurable. Rumor said that a lorry would look like the size of your thumbnail if you're viewing from this height.

Oh and if you attempt to swim here, think again. The lake is filled with arsenic, or so they say so. There have not been any reported case yet.

Before heading back to Kuching, we had a quick stop at the small town of Siniawan. I lived here until the age of six, so I vaguely remember anything.

The place is really rundown. Many shops are closed and the buildings are not maintained at all. It's sad to see but still, I would recommend those who loves street photography to come and snap few shots here.
